Easy Tip is a web-based AFL footy tipping platform designed specifically for teachers and classrooms. It replaces traditional paper tipping sheets with a simple, secure, and fully automated system.
I originally built this for my mum, whoβs a teacher, to avoid spending hours each year manually marking and correcting student tips. Itβs now polished enough that any teacher can create a competition and run it with their class.
Teachers create a competition and students log in using simple 6-digit codes β no emails, no forgotten passwords, and no setup friction.
Fixtures and results are automatically synced using the Squiggle AFL API, while Firebase handles authentication, permissions, and real-time data updates.
Designed for classrooms
No emails or passwords
Automatic scoring
Auth & Firestore backend
This wasnβt built as a portfolio piece β it was built to solve a real problem and save teachers hours of repetitive admin work every AFL season.
Building Easy Tip reinforced the importance of designing for real users. Simplicity, reliability, and clarity matter more than flashy features.
It also strengthened my skills in Firebase, API integration, and building maintainable tools that actually get used.
